Field Trip with Foriegn Students

At the midnight before our tour, i had a nightmare that i rode a bike with a ghost in my back. So i got up very early. on the way to taipei Main station, every seemed to be sleepy. But Dr. Chin is a good guide, he introduced everything on the side of the road. very Good.

When we arrived taipei main station, i think the guide guy was very funny. I'd love to be this kind of person who don't have to act too much but usually makes every laugh. I'm also very proud of our MRT systems. Most functions and services I haven't used before until visiting taipei transit co.
After knowing how the employees and computer machines work, we went back to Qsquare seperating to walk around and have lunch with our foriegn students. I was glad to talk about languege, countries, life style, etc. I told the main problem of fear of speaking english in most taiwan students. because of being training for tests and exams, most taiwan students are good at writing and read. While we are afraid of speaking to living foriegners. I think it's real a perfect opportunity to let English-speakers aware that where our problem is.

Thanks to the MRT, we didn't spend a lot time on traffic. Tumshui, occupied by Spain(1629-1642), Holland(1642-1668), and the Hans(1661-1683) , is a living history book of Taiwan settled times. Since I'm from southern Taiwan, I don't know much about this place. But with foriegn classmates I think it can be meaningful for CYCU students to guide this histories harbor town. Differant foods developed here, too. Iron eggs, fried fish crackers, plum juice, A gei, even some outer foods become very special here. We also visited the red house near the old street. fortunately, we met Dr. Chin and Justin in the 3 floor. But when we saw the lable on the table "sit on this table only when consuming over 900 NT dollars", we thought it's better to see the view on the 3rd floor.

Walking around the TumShui old street, we went back the station to take the bus for the next spot, fishermen harbor. The famous building, Santo Domingo, which was established by spain. The Netherland rebuilt it in 1644. The Netherlanders usually have red hair so it's called red- hair city nowadays.
When we reached the harbor, everyone wanted to pictured with the bridge by their own cemeras. Of course, it cost lots of time to take pictures with more than 8 cemeras. As a result, my face and hands get numb. the popular spot in fishermen harbor is the valentine bridge. By the way, it's a myth about the bridge that if couple walks across the bridge, they might break up finally. It redicule the name a lot. As walking on the right bank, David make a plan to take jumping pictures. We looked just like teens full of energy in the scene.

To snack something as dinner, we take a boat back to old street. The noisy engine of the boat and sultry weather make me feel not very good on the way. when returning to the bank, we went buy something to drink. of course, the plum juice. Becky bought chopsticks in traditional store. I'm very surprised that many foriegners would like to by chopsticks as souvenirs. Taking a rest in McDonalds, I learnd something interesting. Americans, maybe also European, call hamburger only when the stuff include beaf. Chicken, pork and fish with burger bread, they are called sandwitch, cool.

I Love this experience to introduce Taiwan to people from other country. While the schedule is not always good. Everybody knows Taiwan's full of night markets, venders, etc. But we always take a stroll and potter around after meals. That's not very ideal for both of us. Anyway, HAVING FUN AND EXCHANGING EXPERIENCES WITH OTHERS make it unforgettable for me.
